On the evening of June 30, FPNU held a seminar on “Dialogue on Youth and Faith, Face to Face with the Secretary” in the Lecture Hall of the Library of Wumashan Campus. Lai Hairong, secretary of the Party Committee of FPNU, talked to 100 representatives of college students. The discussion was hosted by Lin Haifeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of FPNU, and attended by the principal heads of the School Office, Publicity Department, Department of Student Affairs Management, Youth League Committee of FPNU, Academic Affairs Office, Scientific Research Department, Logistics Department, and representatives of counselors.

Secretary Lai Hairong introduced to the students FPNU’s orientation and current situation, informed the main work carried out andthe achievements achieved by FPNU recently, and focused on answering the questions of concern to the students, sharing his own experience and insights.

He said that Fuqing, the city where the school is located, has many world-class industries and enterprises. As long as we have clear school running goals, a clear development orientation, and a high degree of integration with regional industries, we can go global by relying on the world-class industry.

He said, “Life is like carrying weight to the distance (Life is to be able to accomplish arduous tasks).” “Any place can be a good starting point in life, and Five-horse Mountain can be a very good starting point in life for everyone.” He hoped that students would focus on laying theoretical foundation, acquiring learning ability, exploring ways to improve learning efficiency and ways to better survive in society at the stage of undergraduate education. And by doing these things, students can find a way to ponder on and decide the direction of their future life and plan their lives well.

Faced with students’ confusion about their professional learning, Secretary Lai encouraged them, “Every major is promising, but the key is to strive to become the top person in the industry. As long as you are at the top, you will have a bright future in any industry.” He told the students that the most effective way to improve learning efficiency is to fully combine the interests and fully mobilize the existing knowledge reserves; the easiest way to become a top professional is to find out and understand what the top people and organizations in the industry are doing, and then imitate and learn from them.

He advised students to read more classics, focus on daily accumulation, enrich their life experience, pay attention to the world from now on, concern themselves about grand theoretical things, explore bravely, and lay a solid foundation for their future growth.

He emphasized that people with ideals stay forever young, and young people should definitely have ideals. Students should firmly believe in their ideals, unite the “sky-like(great)” ideal and the “ground-like(concrete)” action and let their ideals and beliefs sublimate in the endeavor of entrepreneurship.

At the invitation of the students, Secretary Lai sang “Me and My Motherland” together with all the students and teachers, wishing the great Communist Party of China and the great motherland a fabulous future together.

The seminar lasted for more than two hours and came to an end in warm and pleasant group photos. The students said that they were deeply touched by the fact that Secretary Lai had took time to communicate with them face to face off his busy schedule. His outlook on the development of the school was concise, firm and clear, which brought them closer to FPNU and gave them confidence in the future of the FPNU. His guidance on issues of concern to them was insightful, sincere and earnest, which gave them a new understanding and profound thinking about the orientation of life and the goals of their college life, and benefited them greatly. The students said that they would keep in mind the teachings of Secretary Lai, and take FPNU as the starting point to build their dreams and set sail, run to every love and embrace a better self.
