A Delegation Led by Deputy Director Huang Shaorong of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province Visited FPNU

On the afternoon of November 12th, Huang Shaorong, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province, accompanied by relevant staff from foreign affairs offices of Fujian Province, Fuzhou Municipality and Fuqing City, visited FPNU. Among them are Director of the Division of Asian Affairs-Cai Wenzhi, and Deputy Director of the Translation Office of the Division of Asian Affairs-Qiu Xiaoyan. Deputy Secretary of FPNU Party Committee Lin Haifeng, Vice President Chen Zhiyong, and heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and Overseas Education College attended the seminar.

At the meeting, Vice President Chen Zhiyong, briefly introduced FPNU’s orientation, talent cultivation and campus construction, focusing on the progress of Sino-foreign cooperation in education since this June. He said that the leaders of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province had visited FPNU twice over the past half year, which demonstrates their full concern for and recognition of FPNU’s work on foreign affairs. FPNU will continue to deepen international cooperation and exchanges in accordance with overall diplomatic principles of the central government and the requirements for foreign affairs of Fujian Province. He hopes that the Foreign Affairs Office will give more support to FPNU in the development of China-Indonesia “Two Countries, Twin Parks” program, think tank construction, educational cooperation, and foreign teacher recruitment, provide FPNU with more opportunities to participate in foreign-related researches and exchange activities, and help FPNU to expand its presence.

Deputy Secretary Lin Haifeng expressed his gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Office for its support to the development of FPNU, and hoped that it would, together with relevant departments, guide and support FPNU’s foreign exchanges and cooperation to a larger extent, and speed up the process of internationalization of FPNU by providing more opportunities and platforms for teachers and students of FPNU to participate in international exchanges and broaden their global vision.


Deputy Director Huang Shaorong highly recognized recent achievements of FPNU in foreign affairs work and gave FPNU guidance to deepen foreign exchanges and cooperation. She pointed out that the focus of FPNU’s enrollment of foreign students is in line with the focus of Fujian’s foreign affairs work, and also in line with the tasks and missions assigned to Fujian by the central government, and the diplomacy of the central government. She hopes that FPNU will give full play to its locational and geographical advantages based on its positioning and specialty characteristics to set up an Indonesian major, which will serve the China-Indonesia “Two Countries, Twin Parks” program, and programs alike. It will also start the cultivation of Indonesian language talents from scratch in Fujian province. Furthermore, she calls for the cultivation of applied and versatile talents of “Indonesian + vocational skill”, who will contribute to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative. She said that Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province will continue to fully support FPNU to expand foreign exchanges and cooperation.

During the visit, Secretary of FPNU Party Committee Lai Hairong and President of FPNU Liao Shenji cordially met with Deputy Director Huang Shaorong. Heads of the relevant departments of the Foreign Affairs Office of Fujian Province provide specific guidance on FPNU’s international exchanges and cooperation. Before the meeting, Huang and the delegation, accompanied by Deputy Secretary Lin Haifeng and Vice President Chen Zhiyong, visited the History Hall of FPNU.
