With the help of Wei Fei（Secretary General of Fuqing Guild in Jakarta）and Wang Chaosheng (Vice President of the Guild), as well as the support of Fuqing Municipal Government, Dr. Lin Lianxing, an Chinese Indonesian of Fuqing origin, donated CNY 10 million to FPNU for the construction of the Lin Lianxing Science and Technology Building.
On the morning of August 10th, FPNU successfully held a donation ceremony for the "Lin Lianxing Science and Technology Building" via video link. Dr. Lin Lianxing (Permanent Honorary President of Fuqing Guild in Jakarta), Lin Huiyun (Dr. Lin’s daughter), Wang Chaosheng (Vice President of World Fuqing Friendship Association and Vice President of Fuqing Guild in Jakarta), Chen Minsui (lawyer of CTLC Law Firm), Liu Meili (Secretary of Lin Lianxing), Lai Hailong (Secretary of the CPC FPNU Committee), Liao Shenji (President of FPNU), Zheng Yun (Vice Mayor of Fuqing City), and Zhang Shunzhou (lawyer of Fujian Huaishi Law Firm) attended the donation ceremony. The donation ceremony was hosted by Shang Guangmei (Vice President of FPNU).
At the donation ceremony, President Liao Shenji accepted the donation plaque and signed the donation agreement on behalf of FPNU. Vice Mayor Zheng Yun and lawyer Zhang Shunzhou signed and witnessed the ceremony.
Secretary Lai Hairong made a speech. On behalf of the university, he paid high tribute to Dr. Lin for his generous donation to the university, conveyed sincere gratitude to Wei Fei and Wang Chaosheng for all the efforts they have made in coordinating the donation, and to Fuqing Municipal Government and people from all walks of life who have long been concerned about and supported the development of FPNU.
He pointed out that Dr. Lin Lianxing is an accomplished entrepreneur and a wise man who has played an active role in bridging and promoting the friendship between China and Indonesia, and has won wide acclaim both at home and abroad, and has long supported the development of charity and education in his native country and hometown through donations and other means, which is admirable and respectful. He said that the donation ceremony of the Lin Lianxing Science and Technology Building not only reflects the noble sentiments of Dr. Lin who loves his hometown and is devoted to education, but also is a practice of the city-university joint implementation of the strategic cooperation framework agreement. The university will effectively implement the instructions of the donation agreement, build, manage and utilize the building well in accordance with Dr. Lin's wishes. What’s more, the university will make efforts to create inexhaustible impetus for the high-quality development in all aspects and live up to the great expectations of Dr. Lin and everyone else.
Secretary Lai Hairong stressed that FPNU, as the only one of the 12 provincial public undergraduate universities in Fujian Province that is located in a county-level city, is the highest educational institution in Fuqing, and is the pride of ethnic Chinese of Fuqing origin at home and abroad. FPNU will be firmly rooted in Fuqing, deeply integrated into the economic and social development of Fuqing, actively promote the expansion of industrial economy of Fuqing and support Fuqing on its way to becoming a modern international harbor city and writing the Fuqing Chapter on promoting high-quality development in all aspects. He hoped that Dr. Lin Lianxing, the municipal party committee and municipal government of Fuqing and the overseas Chinese leaders and overseas Chinese of Fuqing origin would continue to care about the university, help promote and publicize the university, mobilize more able men to support the development of the university, advance the prosperity of higher education in their hometown and better serve the economic and social development of Fuqing and the overseas Chinese of Fuqing origin.
Dr. Lin Lianxing, who is 94 years old, delivered a heartfelt speech. He expressed that he has always been deeply attached to Lianfeng Village, Donghan Town, Fuqing and China, and he is full of deep affection for his hometown and proud of the development of his hometown and the progress of China. He pointed out that it was his father, Mr. Lin Zuqin's last wish to donate money for education and to help the poor children in his hometown to study more and study well. Over the years, he has donated money to set up Lianfeng Primary School and Zuqin Secondary School in his hometown, and built Lin Lianxing Building at Xiamen University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, but he always had a wish that he could do something for the local universities in Fuqing. The donation of the Lin Lianxing Science and Technology Building in Fujian Polytechnic Normal University fulfilled this wish and made him feel gratified. He hoped that the FPNU would strengthen the connection with Zuqin Secondary School and provide a better platform for the growth of Zuqin Secondary School students to pursue their studies, and wished the university to become better and better with great number of teachers and students.
At the ceremony, Vice President Wang Chaosheng expressed his gratitude to Dr. Lin Lianxing, congratulated the success of the donation ceremony of Lin Lianxing Science and Technology Building and expressed his good wishes for the future development of the university.
