Two preparatory meetings for the Southeast Foreign Communication and English Writing Center were held on the mornings of March 1 and March 2 in the Science Building. Guo Huimin, Vice President of China International Public Relations Association and former Vice President of the University of International Relations, and Yu Xiaoqiu, Minjiang Scholar Chair Professor, as well as the heads and teachers of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Culture, Media and Law attended the meetings.
At the meeting, the head of School of Foreign Languages introduced the basic situation of the school, the development ideas and the preliminary preparations for the Southeast Foreign Communication and English Writing Center to be established. The participants fully exchanged opinions and suggestions on clarifying functions, research direction and organizational structure of the Writing Center.
Professor Guo Huimin and Professor Yu Xiaoqiu fully acknowledged the development ideas of the Writing Center, and were full of confidence in and expectations for the future development of the Writing Center.
Professor Guo Huimin gave specific guidance on the positioning, guiding ideas and main tasks of the Writing Center. He said that the establishment of the Writing Center is closely related to the Chinese cultural communication and the innovation and development of teaching and scientific research in the school. He believes that the Writing Center should be based in Fujian, serve the regional economic and social development, and serve the foreign communication of Fujian.
Professor Yu Xiaoqiu made constructive comments and gave suggestions on the establishment of the Writing Center from the perspective of Chinese cultural communication. He hopes that the Writing Center can improve the scientific research level of college teachers and cultivate foreign communication talents. (School of Foreign Languages)
