International Academic Symposium on Integrated Development and Overseas Dissemination of Fujian-Taiwan Literature Co-hosted by FPNU and Fujian Federation of Social Science Association

On December 18th, the International Academic Symposium on the  Integrated Development and Overseas Dissemination of Fujian-Taiwan Literature, jointly hosted by Fujian Federation of Social Science Association and FPNU, was successfully held in Fuqing. The symposium featured two keynote sessions and three sub-forums. Entrusted by President Liao Shenji, He Kunji, a member of FPNU's Reform and Development Committee, attended the symposium on behalf of FPNU and delivered a speech. Liu Xinghong, Deputy Director of the Social Science Department of Fujian Federation of Social Science Association, Yang Jilan, Chief Supervisor of the China World Association for Chinese Literatures, Yuan Yonglin, President of the Fujian Research Association of Chinese Literature in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and Overseas, and Li Quanlin, Vice President and Secretary General of the Research Association, attended the symposium. More than 100 experts, scholars and well-known writers from both sides of Taiwan Straits, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as the United States, France, the Netherlands, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia, operated the discussion around different themes through a synchronized online and offline communication.

On behalf of the University, He Kunji extended a warm welcome to the participants. He pointed out that, as the only university in Fujian positioned to train teachers for vocational education, FPNU has undertaken the mission of nurturing people for the CPC and the country, and the responsibility of serving regional economic and social development. He hoped that through this international academic symposium, FPNU would further review the history of cultural exchange and integration between Fujian and Taiwan, summarize the writing experience of Chinese literature in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas, showcase the new achievements of Fujian academics in the field of research on Chinese literature in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas, and build a platform for FPNU to expand external exchanges, enhance its research and academic capacity, and improve the quality of faculty satff and the level of talent training. The symposium will make positive contributions to the further prosperity of the philosophical and social sciences in Fujian and the construction of a new Fujian in the new era.

In his speech, Deputy Director Liu Xinghong said that FPNU has not only created many invaluable experiences in school running , but also made important contributions to the prosperity and development of Fujian-Taiwan culture and the enhancement of regional social science development by closely focusing on the central policies and serving the overall situation.

Lin Mei, a representative of Chinese literature writers in the world and a Chinese writer from Fuqing who lives in Europe, delivered an online video speech and expressed her best wishes for Fuqing and FPNU. Chief Supervisor Yang Jilan read out the congratulation from the China World Association for Chinese Literatures. President Yuan Yonglin expressed his cordial greetings to Chinese literature writers from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and overseas.

 

In his academic summary, Li Quanlin, Vice President and Secretary General of the Research Association, said that the symposium, held in Fuqing, a famous overseas Chinese hometown, demonstrated the latest research and creative achievements in Chinese literature from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas, and achieved the expected academic effect.

This symposium is one of the sub-forums of the 2021 Annual Academic Conference of Fujian Social Sciences Circles. Attendees included experts and scholars from the Fujian Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Writers Association of America and the Association of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of Penang Malaysian in China, journalists from media inside and outside of Fujian, like the Fujian Media Group and the Selected Works of Taiwan-Hong Kong Literature, as well as teacher and sutudent representatives from the University of Indonesia, Nanjing University, Xiamen University, Jinan University, Fujian Normal University and FPNU.
