How time flies! On the occasion of bidding farewell to the the old year and welcoming the new one, I, on behalf of the Party Committee and the administraive departments of FPNU, would like to extend sincere greetings and best wishes to all faculties and students, retired colleagues, alumni at home and abroad, and all those who care about and support the development of FPNU!
The year of 2021 is a milestone year in the history of the CPC and the country, and it is also an important year in the history of FPNU’s development. Over the past year, FPNU followed the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implemented the guiding principles of the Party’s 19th National Congress, the plenary sessions of its 19th Cenetral Committee, and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks during his inspection visit to Fujian, strengthened the Party's overall leadership over school work, comprehensively promoted epidemic prevention work , focused on high-quality development, and united teachers and students in promoting the development of FPNU to a new level.
Over the past year, FPNU has implemented its own positioning and served the overall situation. FPNU has provided services for improving the quality of Vocational Education in Fujian, and established a Vocational Education Office, a Vocational Education College, a Vocational Education Research Institute and an International Comparative Research Center for Vocational Education. Under the guidance and support of The Education Department of Fujian Province, Fujian Vocational Education Teacher Development League was initiated and established, with FPNU as the permanent chairman unit and 113 other unit members. FPNU also cooperated with Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Education to jointly build Xiamen Industrial-Commercial Tourism School. In addition, FPNU was approved to establish Fujian Vocational Education Teacher Continuing Education Center.
Over the past year, FPNU has overcame difficulties and made breakthroughs in key areas. FPNU successfully passed the examination and evaluation of bachelor's degree, and was added as a bachelor's degree-granting unit. Nine majors, including Electronic Information Engineering, were added as authorized majors. FPNU made all efforts in the application for the cultivation units of provincial first-class applied undergraduate universities. Progress was made in promoting the construction of provincial innovation platforms. The joint research and development center for marine food , which was built jointly with Indonesian universities, was awarded the provincial “Belt and Road” cooperation platform. FPNU also won the honorary title of the second provincial “Civilized Campus”.
Over the past year, FPNU has improved the working quality and efficiency. We promoted the adjustment and improvement of the discipline layout. The number of entity schools have been adjusted from seven to nine, and five new undergraduate majors including Economics and Finance have been added. FPNU has also actively promoted the application of five majors, namely Artificial Intelligence, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Marine Resource and Environment as well as Advertising . Two new provincial first-class major construction sites have been newly added. FPNU has also accelerated the construction of Yuanhong Food Modern Industry Institute, promoted the strategy of strengthening FPNU with talents, improved the talent incentive and evaluation mechanism, reformed the professional title evaluation and employment system, and introduced twenty-five talents with high academic qualifications and high professional titles. FPNU has added two scientific research projects at the national level, two at the Ministry of Education of PRC level, and twenty-six at provincial level. Applied research and social service capabilities have continued to improve, with 12 million RMB received for enterprises-funded research projects, a record high. One political report has been newly approved by the state-level leader. And the first batch of Indonesian international students have been enrolled.
Over the past year, FPNU has gathered the strengths of all parties. FPNU has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Fuqing City, which supported the rapid improvement of FPNU’s comprehensive strength, and accelerated the construction of Yuanhong Campus as well as the expansion project of Wumashan Campus. The first phase of 20 million RMB of support funds was in place. The Affiliated Longhua Vocational Technical School of FPNU, Affiliated Middle School of FPNU, and Affiliated Primary School of FPNU jointly built by the Fuqing City and FPNU were successfully unveiled. Matters related to the development of FPNU would be included in Fujian province's “14th Five-Year” special plan on education. FPNU has also gathered the hearts and strength of overseas Chinese. Mr. Lin Lianxing, donated 10 million RMB for the construction of Lin Lianxing Science and Technology Building. Mr. Xiong Delong, Chairman of Guoji Ribao Indonesia Press Group, donated 1 million RMB to set up “Xiong Delong Scholarship”. FPNU has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with Perkumpulan Fujian Indonesia and Guoji Ribao Indonesia Press Group to jointly promote cultural exchanges and cooperation, and talent cultivating between China and Indonesia, and invite a group of overseas Chinese and scholars to help the development of FPNU. Also, 2.7 million RMB was donated by Xiamen Linjia Catering Group to establish a project fund.
Let’s keep the momentum going and write a new chapter of school development! We must adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind. Taking the 45th anniversary celebration of FPNU as the opportunity, we should aim at the goal, work hard together, strive to create a new situation for the development of FPNU, and welcome the Party’s 20th National Congress with excellent results.
