On the afternoon of May 29, Professor Sun Shaozhen from Fujian Normal University（FNU）was invited to FPNU to give an academic report entitled Cultural Confidence and Research Methodology.  Relevant heads of the School of Culture, Media and Law, and representatives of teachers and students majoring in Chinese Language and Literature attended the meeting.

        In the light of the characteristics of the times and cultural phenomena, Professor Sun Shaozhen discussed the cultural scrutiny of western societies and demonstrated the importance of cultural confidence. He stressed that "cultural confidence" is not simply a slogan or a theoretical term, but a conscious act of cultural awareness after truly understanding our own culture and actively undertaking the mission of historical inheritance. Our national culture is excellent and powerful, carrying forward our own tradition and absorbing the dialectical thinking of Marxism-Leninism. It is a culture of inclusiveness. The whole report was rich in content and profound in thought, with a series of brilliant words and insightful views.

        Professor Sun Shaozhen encouraged young people to find the essence in the culture, to insist that practice is the only criterion for testing the truth, to establish their own worldview and methodology, to awaken the "perseverance" in blood of their own national culture, to shape their national cultural personality, and to enhance their sense of identity and pride in the national culture.

        Professor Sun Shaozhen actively interacted with young students and teachers, patiently answered their questions, further analyzed the spiritual connotation of cultural confidence and enabled teachers and students to have a more comprehensive understanding and in-depth thinking on cultural phenomena and common-sense conclusions.

        Professor Sun Shaozhen's wonderful report sparked resonance and reflection among teachers and students, warming their hearts and making it a rare cultural feast. The students expressed that as college students in the new era, they should consciously establish the sense of duty, adhere to the principles of cultural inheritance, innovation and combining history and reality, firmly establish cultural confidence and take up the historical responsibility of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
