On the evening of August 17th, Lai Hailong, Secretary of the Party Committee of FPNU, made a special trip to Fuzhou Municipal People's Government to visit Mayor Wu Xiande. At 9 o 'clock, a panel discussion was held.

Secretary Lai Hailong reported to Mayor Wu Xiande the recent guidance and instructions from several leaders of Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Government on the work of the school, and introduced the progress FPNU has achieved in the past year and the changes of various social evaluation indicators. Secretary Lai said that under the strong leadership of the provincial Party Committee and Government and the care and support of the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Government, the school is highly integrated with the development of Fuqing. Fuqing Municipal Party Committee and Government attaches great importance to the development of FPNU, and gives key support in the aspects of campus construction and fund raising. The whole university is grasping the opportunity to speed up the construction of a high level polytechnic normal university with distinctive characteristics, and striving to make new and greater contributions to accelerating the construction of Fuzhou into a modern international city and promoting all-round high-quality development. Secretary Lai, on behalf of the staff and students of the whole school, invited Mayor Wu to spare time in the midst of pressing affairs to visit FPNU recently to investigate and give guidance on the acceleration of the high-quality development of FPNU and promote the cause to a new stage.

Mayor Wu Xiande congratulated FPNU on its achievements in development. He conveyed the recent attention of provincial leaders to the development of the school and encouraged the school to make further achievements. He expressed his recognition to the idea of taking root in Fuqing, promoting the integration of industry and education, and serving the development of vocational education in the whole province, and put forward some guiding opinions on the development plan of FPNU. Mayor Wu also accepted the invitation and said he would go back to visit the teachers and students at a proper time to discuss and promote the development of his Alma mater.
