On March 14th, Professor Lai Hairong, FPNU Party Secretary, led a team to visit the Sino-German College of Tongji University. Professor Lai and his team were warmly received by Vice President of Tongji University Lei Xinghui. Both sides had a discussion about exchange and cooperation. The attendees of the discussion included Liu Shuyan, Director of the Liberal Arts Office of Tongji University, Wang Jiping, Dean of the College of Vocational and Technical Education, Wang Yijun, Associate Dean of the College of Vocational and Technical Education, relevant staff, and representatives of Fujian graduate students.
During the discussion, Vice President Lei Xinghui introduced the glorious history of Tongji University and the course of its discipline development. He also shared the achievements and experience of vocational education and engineering education in terms of Tongji University’s high-level cooperation with Germany. He pointed out that vocational education has a broad future and great potential. Based on the long-term Sino-Germany cooperation in vocational education, Tongji University is striving to build a modern vocational education system and to promote the internationalization of vocational education. He said that Tongji University has been working closely with Fujian Province, making remarkable achievements in talent training, scientific and technological research and development and the transformation of the corresponding achievements, and that Tongji University is willing to work with FPNU to promote the high-quality development of vocational education in Fujian Province.
FPNU Party Secretary Lai Hairong said that as a pioneer and leader in China’s higher education, as well as a model of international cooperation in the field of vocational education, Tongji University has a profound historical and educational accumulation and has gained considerable experience in Germany’s vocational education research and teaching staff training of China’s vocational education. He introduced the location advantage and educational orientation of FPNU and put forward the basic ideas of cooperation between the two universities. He hoped that Tongji University would offer guidance and assistance to the development of FPNU, provide high-quality vocational education resources for FPNU to undertake the training for vocational education teachers in Fujian Province, lead the joint participation in the cooperation on Sino-German vocational education, and assist FPNU in cultivating high-quality technical talents. This way, the two universities would promote together the exchange and cooperation between them for mutual benefits.
The discussion covered the discipline development of vocational and technical education, international exchange and cooperation of vocational education, and the training of vocational education teachers. In addition, a preliminary consensus on cooperation has been reached.
