On the morning of September 10, Lai Hairong, secretary of the Party Committee of FPNU, and his team went to Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government to visit Mayor Wu Xiande. Mayor Wu Xiande held cordial talks with Secretary Lai Hairong at a meeting.

On behalf of the whole university, Secretary Lai Hairong extended warm congratulations to Mayor Wu Xiande on his new appointment, and expressed heartfelt thanks for his care and support for the work of FPNU. Secretary Lai introduced FPNU’s recent development and future development plans. He hoped that Mayor Wu would provide strong support in campus construction, fund raising, etc., to help FPNU further expand its scale, improve its level, and increase its influence. He sincerely invited Mayor Wu to visit FPNU for inspection and guidance.

Mayor Wu Xiande stressed FPNU’s positive contributions to local economic and social development, expressed expectations for FPNU’s future development, and gave guidance to FPNU’s relevant work. He pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has planned for and promoted the development of vocational education in person, and presented a series of important ideas and proposals as well as instructions on vocational education. As the only undergraduate university at provincial level in Fujian to cultivate teachers for vocational education, FPNU not only shoulders the basic function of serving the society, but also undertakes the historical task of shoring up the weakness of vocational education teachers and promoting the high-quality development of vocational education in Fujian Province. He said that FPNU is also the only undergraduate university in Fuqing. Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government will think through issues related to integrating the development of FPNU into the relevant work of Fuzhou Municipal Government, actively work for the strong communication between Fuqing Municipal Government and FPNU, and encourage Fuqing Municipal Government to take the development of FPNU as one of its key tasks. He hopes that FPNU will further free the mind and act in an innovative spirit to give full play to geographical and industrial advantages, and continue to expand channels for fund raising through university-enterprise cooperation and the establishment of education foundations. At the same time, he hopes that FPNU will enhance connections and exchanges with Management Committee of Fuzhou New Area-Fuqing Functional Zone, make in-depth exploration of new cooperation models, and accelerate the construction of Yuanhong Campus.
