We stick to the original aspirations and take on the educating mission. On the occasion of the 37th Teachers’ Day, FPNU held the Commendation Conference to celebrate the 37th Teachers’ Day in the Academic Hall of the Science Building on the afternoon of September 8th. Leaders of FPNU including Lai Hairong, Liao Shenji, Lin Haifeng, Chen Zhiyong and Shang Guangmei, members of the Reform and Development Committee, principal CPC cadres and administrative leaders of all departments, teacher representatives and student representatives attended the conference.
The conference kicked off with the majestic and solemn national anthem.
The conference was hosted by Liao Shenji, the deputy secretary of the CPC Committee and president of FPNU.
Shang Guangmei, member of the CPC Committee and vice president of FPNU, announced the list of faculty and staff who have achieved gratifying achievements in teaching knowledge and cultivating students, scientific research and management services in the 2020-2021 academic year, and the list of teachers who have won the "Honor of Teaching Granted by the People's Government of Fujian Province".

On behalf of all the students in FPNU, Chen Yingzi, student representative of the School of Culture, Media and Law, sent festive blessings and expressed sincere respect and gratitude to the teachers.
Zhao Shaoka, a teacher representative from the School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, spoke on behalf of the commended teachers, sharing his insights on the teacher's profession and his experience in teaching and research work .
On behalf of the whole university, Lai Hairong, secretary of the CPC Committee of FPNU, extended festive greetings and best wishes to all faculty and staff and expressed warm congratulations to the commended faculty and staff. He briefly reviewed the achievements of the university in the past year, fully affirmed the positive contributions made by all teachers to the reform and development of the university and expressed his heartfelt gratitude and high respect to the faculty and staff who have worked hard and selflessly dedicated themselves to the development of the university.
He pointed out that education is the foundation for the one-hundred-year talent strategy and teachers are the foundation for education. Teachers bear the historical mission of spreading knowledge, ideas and truth, and shoulder the important task of shaping soul, life and people. In the development of the university it is the key and fundamental to build a team of professional teachers with high-quality. At present, the FPNU’s cause is embarking on a new journey. The desire for professionals and the hunger for good teachers are more urgent than ever. We must firmly adhere to the strategy of strengthening the university with professionals, take talents as the first resource, improve the professional’s working mechanism, accelerate to shore up the weak spots and adjust the structure and promote the continuous improvement of the quality of teachers.
On behalf of FPNU, Mr. Lai put forward three expectations. Firstly, all staff must stick to the original mission. Secondly, all staff must cultivate high moral values. Thirdly, all staff should serve the development of the cause of FPNU.
He stressed that teachers are the key to implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. All departments of FPNU should fully understand the importance of teachers from a strategic and overall perspective, take the comprehensive strengthening of the teaching force as a major political task, care for teachers with enthusiasm and fully trust and rely closely on teachers, so that teachers have a sense of mission in their duty, a sense of happiness in their positions and a sense of achievement in their careers. A good situation for teachers to tap their potential and to mine for top talents in the future should be formed. This will provide strong support for the high-quality development of FPNU and accelerate the construction of a high-level polytechnic normal university with distinctive features.
While presiding over the meeting, Principal Liao Shenji pointed out that he hoped that the staff of FPNU will learn from the role models, strive to be excellent teachers, combine teaching and education with self-cultivation, meet high ethical standards in teaching and learning and firmly uphold the philosophy of "student-oriented, quality-oriented, combining teaching with practice and implementing comprehensive development". FPNU will make new and greater contributions to make up for the shortcomings, promote the transformation, develop the characteristics, strive to be a first-class university, focus on cultivating practical skill-oriented professional talents and teachers for vocational education needed in the regional economic and social development, and accelerate the construction of a high-level polytechnic normal university with distinctive features.
