On the morning of October 5, an online opening ceremony for the first batch of international students was held in FPNU. Professor Chen Zhiyong, Vice President of FPNU, and relevant heads from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Economics and Management, School of Culture, Media and Law, School of Food and Biological Engineering and Overseas Education College attended the ceremony at Wumashan Campus. The first batch of international students, 2021’s freshmen, from Indonesia participated in the ceremony via video conferencing.
Vice President Chen Zhiyong delivered a speech on behalf of FPNU, extending a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to the international students. He introduced the geographic advantages and school philosophy of the university, and expressed his ardent hopes to the students. He hopes, firstly, they will cherish their time, study hard and equip themselves well; secondly, they will enhance communication and interaction with their Chinese counterparts and serve as envoys for cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia; thirdly, they will strive for self-improvement, pursue excellence, scale new heights and constantly surpass themselves.
During the ceremony, the international students watched the introduction video of FPNU and made speeches in Chinese. They expressed their expectations for study and life in FPNU, shared their stories about learning Chinese and looked forward to upcoming university life. They said that they would work hard to learn Chinese and gain professional knowledge; and they would keep going forward to realize their dreams.
Due to the pandemic, this semester’s courses will be delivered via online platforms. Overseas Education College and related schools will work together to carefully arrange online teaching programs and second-classroom activities, such as experiencing Chinese culture, to help students adapt to college life as soon as possible.
The admission of the first batch of international students marks the official beginning of FPNU’s international education, which is of great significance to the internationalization of the university. In the future, FPNU will give full play to its advantages of vocational and technical education and Fuqing’s role as the hometown of overseas Chinese to attract more international students, continuously strengthen openness and cooperation and further promote the internationalization of educational exchanges.
