On the morning of October 12, Wu Yongzhong, Deputy Secretary of Fuqing Municipal Party Committee and Acting Mayor of Fuqing City, led a team to research and promote the construction of FPNU’s new campus. Team members included Lin Youhua, Managing Deputy Director of Management Committee of Fuqing Functional Area, Fuzhou New Area; Zheng Yun, member of the Party Group of the municipal government; Zhang Xiao, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and relevant responsible persons of the Municipal Government Office, Natural Resources and Planning Bureau and Land Development Center. Lai Hairong, Secretary of the Party Committee of FPNU, and Shang Guangmei, Vice President of the university, participated in the research.
Accompanied by Secretary Lai Hairong, the visiting delegation led by Acting Mayor Wu Yongzhong did a field research on the reserve land in the south of Wumashan Campus, Shizhushan Campus and the proposed land of Yuanhong Campus.
After the field research, the two sides held a work advancement meeting. Wu Yongzhong, Acting Mayor, pointed out that Fujian Polytechnic Normal University is the highest seat of learning in Fuqing City, and is a significant force for the construction of New Fuqing, and Fuqing government would fully support the construction of FPNU’s new campus. He stated that the municipal government would set up a project team, with himself as the headman and the municipal leader in charge of related businesses as the executive vice headman, and the municipal government would allocate special start-up funds in advance. He asked the project team to normalize the working mechanism, and hold work advancement meeting once a week. Natural Resources and Planning Bureau of Fuqing city and the street committees (or township) are asked to organize special forces to complete the tasks of red line area delineation, land use approval and planning adjustments, to put forward the conceptual plan as soon as possible, and complete the program design in time. He pointed out that the construction of the new campus would be implemented by the municipal government, in the name of “turn-key” project, and the southward expansion of the Wumashan campus and the construction of the Yuanhong campus would be considered thoroughly to ensure parallel development. He stressed that supporting FPNU to speed up the construction of the new campus should be placed on the important agenda of government work. The municipal government will set project schedule in inverted order, act as planned, and organize forces to quickly advance the project for usage within three years. He hoped that the school would take into account the layout of disciplines and the scale of students in each campus, actively cooperate with the design of the program, strengthen communication and coordination with the higher authorities on the implementation of the project, implement asset disposal, project approval and other work in time, and jointly complete the construction of the new campus.
On behalf of FPNU, Secretary Lai Hairong expressed his heartfelt thanks to Fuqing municipal Party committee and municipal government for the full support to the construction of the new campus. He said that he would fully cooperate with Fuqing municipal Party committee and municipal government to implement the relevant work, adjust and expand the school's project team, strengthen the communication and coordination with the provincial committee and government, and higher authorities, and quickly promote the work of program submission and project approval. At the same time, FPNU will further give full play to its advantages, closely match the needs of industrial development in Fuqing, optimize and adjust the structure of disciplines and majors, continue to expand the scale of schooling, continuously improve the quality of schooling, gather people and cultivate the talents for the development of Fuqing, and better serve the new Fuqing in the new era and the construction of modern international port city of Fuqing.
