Xiamen Industrial-Commercial and Tourism School affiliated to FPNU was inaugurated on November 11th.
During the ceremony, Liao Huasheng, Vice Mayor of Xiamen Municipal People’s Government, cordially met with Liao Shenji, President of FPNU. Both sides exchanged views on carrying out further cooperation and making Xiamen a leading force in the innovative development of vocational education.
Entrusted by Vice Mayor Liao Huasheng, Wang Tingliang, Deputy Secretary General of the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government, attended the ceremony and made a speech. He pointed out that Xiamen urgently needs vocational education to provide talents for industrial development, hence the rapid economic and social development. The cooperation project of the Xiamen Industrial-Commercial and Tourism School affiliated to FPNU is an important measure to promote Xiamen’s role as a leading force in vocational education, which is conducive to deepening the reform and development of vocational education in Xiamen. He stressed that it is necessary to make sound plans to ensure quality and excellence, and deepen reform to make this project an extraordinary platform for innovative schooling system, distinctive school-running characteristics and talent cultivation. In this process, Xiamen’s characteristics should be demonstrated with the aim of building a Xiamen model that is worthy of being promoted across the country, so as to better serve the economic and social development of Xiamen and even Fujian Province, and make greater contributions to promoting cross-strait integrated development.
President Liao Shenji made a warm speech. He pointed out that the cooperation between FPNU and the Xiamen Municipal Education Bureau to build Xiamen Industrial-Commercial and Tourism School affiliated to FPNU is a dynamic practice of FPNU and Xiamen to implement the policies of building Xiamen a pilot city in leading the innovative development of vocational education with the joint efforts of the Ministry of Education and Fujian Province, to promote high-quality development of vocational education in Xiamen, and to explore the paradigm of “Xiamen vocational education” with Fujian and Taiwan characteristics. It is also a significant measure to improve the quality of vocational education and promote the development of modern vocational education with Fujian characteristics. FPNU will give full play to the advantages of resources such as disciplines, talents and platforms to promote the reform of schooling system and education mechanism. It will provide the affiliated Xiamen Industrial-Commercial and Tourism School with guidance and support to accelerate high-quality development, and actively explore the reform of the “3+4” talent cultivation model. President Liao hopes that the affiliated Xiamen Industrial-Commercial and Tourism School would seize the opportunity, carry forward the momentum, and continue to be in the vanguard of the development of secondary vocational education in Fujian Province and Xiamen, and make new and greater contributions to building Xiamen a central place for the innovative development of vocational education. He said that FPNU will take the inauguration of the affiliated Xiamen Industrial-Commercial and Tourism School as an opportunity to further integrate itself into the development of vocational education in Xiamen. It will thoroughly implement the key requirements for FPNU’s development, put forward in the special development plan of education in “14th Five-Year Plan” of Fujian Province, giving full play to its advantages of positioning, and exploring the reform of talent cultivation model. Acting in a pioneering spirit and in coordination with all parties, it will carry out special tasks entrusted by the coordination mechanism between the Ministry and the Province, and actively create conditions for training vocational teachers and improving the quality of secondary vocational teachers in Xiamen, with a view to helping Xiamen accelerate the pace of developing itself to a modern city strong in education.
Zhuang Minqi, President of the affiliated Xiamen Industrial-Commercial and Tourism School, hopes that under the guidance and with the help of FPNU, the school will speed up its high-quality development, and further explore the improvement of vocational education teachers, specialty construction, talent cultivation, industry-education integration, and student development, thereby advancing the school’s “expansion, improvement and upgrade”.
Hong Jun, Deputy Director of Education Bureau of Xiamen, presided over the ceremony. Vice President Chen Zhiyong and heads of relevant departments of FPNU, leaders of the affiliated Xiamen Industrial-Commercial and Tourism School, leaders of relevant colleges, schools and enterprises, as well as experts attended the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the participants held talks to exchange ideas on the in-depth study and implementation of the spirit of the “Opinions on Promoting the High-quality Development of Vocational Education” issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council, and the implementation of the policies of building Xiamen a pilot city in leading the innovative development of vocational education with the joint efforts of the Ministry of Education and Fujian Province.
