On the morning of December 6th, Zhou Heping, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, former Director of the National Library and Honorary Director of the National Library, was invited to visit FPNU. President Liao Shenji warmly received Director Zhou Heping.
Accompanied by President Liao Shenji, Director Zhou Heping went to the two campuses and visited the special exhibition of “The Beauty of the Craftsmen’s Heart” organized by the Academy of Arts and Crafts, FPNU’s history exhibition hall, and the university library. During his visit, Director Zhou had a general understanding of FPNU. He also gave his comments and opinions when interacting with FPNU’s teachers and students.
At the subsequent exchange meeting, President Liao introduced the history and development of FPNU. He said that while accelerating the development, FPNU attaches great importance to the construction of campus culture, and actively promotes the combination of the basic principles of Marxism with excellent Chinese traditional culture. FPNU aims to construct a multicultural system that helps form good academic environment. President Liao hoped that Director Zhou would put forward more valuable suggestions for FPNU, especially on the construction of the major of Arts and Crafts and the development of FPNU’s library.
Director Zhou highly recognized FPNU’s achievements. He pointed out that it’s important to preserve intangible cultural heritage. In addition, the inheritance and development of contemporary arts and crafts is an important part when building cultural confidence. It is meaningful to set up Shoushan stone carving courses in university, which is helpful to inherit and further develop the intangible cultural heritage craftmanship. He also pointed out that to strengthen the construction of university libraries and build a modern library, we need to further enhance the digital construction of libraries, provide efficient service, and make library operations larger in scale and more systematic. It is also necessary to further strengthen exchanges and build an information sharing system to provide a high-quality environment for academic exchanges and research.
Members of the Reform and Development Committee of FPNU, and relevant heads from FPNU Library, College of Continuing Education, and Academy of Arts and Crafts attended the activities. (College of Continuing Education, Academy of Arts and Crafts)
