On the evening of March 30, Fujian Province and Ceará, Brazil signed agreements online with a view to deepening cooperation. The foreign affairs departments of the two sides signed “the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Silk Road Partnership”. Our school and other two universities in Fujian Province signed cooperation agreements with two universities in Ceará. Present at the signing ceremony were Yan Yuqing, Chinese Consul General in Recife, Cesar Ribeiro, Director of the Department of International Relations of Ceará, Carlos Desimo, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Idelbrando Soares, President of the Ceará State University, Augusto Teixeira de Albuquerque, Assistant Dean of School of International Relations of the Federal University of Ceará, the Director Chen Chuxin and the Deputy Director Huang Shaorong of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province, Wang Yang, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Fujian Province, Liao Shenji, President of FPNU, Chen Qinghua, Vice President of Fujian Normal University, Chen Yiduan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiamen Ocean Vocational College (XMOC), and other guests from China and Brazil.
Consul General Yan Yuqing expressed his congratulations on the event, and looked forward to future cooperation between Fujian Province and Ceará, and between contracting universities. She said, it had been 20 years since Ceará and Fujian Province became sister provinces/states when President Xi Jinping was in office in Fujian. Today, we witness the signing of “the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Silk Road Partnership” between the two sides, which lays a solid foundation for the official establishment of the Silk Road Partnership in the future, and raises the diversified cooperation between Fujian Province and Ceará to a new level. At the same time, three colleges and universities in Fujian Province signed educational cooperation agreements with two colleges and universities in Ceará. She believed that it will be an opportunity for the colleges and universities, taking advantage of the cooperation platforms, to improve the level of international teaching, establish and improve the cooperation mechanism, strengthen cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary academic exchanges, cultivate more high-quality applied and high-level skilled talents, and serve the development of Fujian Province and Ceará. She said that the Consulate General in Recife is willing to work with Fujian Province and Ceará to actively implement the initiatives and measures of the BRICS “China Year”, help the BRICS “China Year” yield fruitful results, and create benefits for the people of both countries.
President Liao Shenji and President Idelbrando Soares signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the two universities and delivered speeches. President Liao Shenji said that FPNU and the Ceará State University have kept close communication since the educational cooperation and exchange conference in November of last year. FPNU will take this signing event as an opportunity to carry out extensive exchanges on talent training and academic activities with the Ceará State University in the fields of information technology, Chinese, education, etc. President Idelbrando Soares said that the cooperation between the two universities is of great significance to the internationalization of the Ceará State University.
