Fujian Provincial Department of Education recently announced the winners of the 2022 Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. The project from the School of Further Education won the first prize.
The project was led by Professor Chen Zhiyong. Based on the concept of lifelong education and the cooperation among schools, local enterprises and the government, the project run deep in the countryside and created a new model of high-quality and low-cost education for the rural elderly. After 6 years of practice, it has promoted the construction of 51 village-level schools in the province, and carried out more than 70 teacher training activities, with over 300 teaching volunteers and 50,000 elderly students included. The project has effectively driven and promoted the theoretical and practical innovation of rural elderly education and rural social governance in our province. It serves as a good example, and has been recognized by students and government departments at all levels as well.
