On March 29th, Huang Hongwu, former directors of Education Department of Fujian Province and Provincial CPPCC Committee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports, was invited to FPNU to deliver a report on the implementation of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress for FPNU teacher representatives. The meeting was presided over by School Party Secretary Lai Hairong. More than 150 people attended the meeting, including Chen Hui, Director of Division of Education, Science, and Culture, Fujian Provincial Department of Finance, and Chen Zhiyong, FPNU Vice President.
Revolving around the implementation of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, Professor Huang Hongwu elaborated the modernization of China’s higher education and clarified some concepts based on his experience in-depth thinking in this aspect. Furthermore, he put forward opinions on school construction with the polytechnic normal universities like FPNU as examples. He pointed out that the modernization of China’s higher education should be viewed from the perspectives of the overall leadership of the Party, national needs, the “people first” position, and the goal of common prosperity and that the difference and similarity between discipline and specialty construction should be accurately understood, so as to accelerate the school development in the new era. In the meantime, he shared his ideas, practice, and experience of running schools when he worked in colleges.
Secretary Lai Hairong summed up Professor Huang’s report with key words “confidence”, “driving force”, and “expectation”. He said that Professor Huang’s report was far-reaching, constructive, and insightful to our school’s development, which strengthened our confidence and drove us to promote the high quality development of FPNU on a new journey.
Before the meeting, Professor Huang Hongwu, Director Chen Hui and other invitees cordially visited Professor Chen Lizhong and observed the apprenticeship model of teaching of Arts and Crafts faculty at FPNU and their teaching achievements.
