September 29, 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of Fujian-Nagasaki Friendship. The celebration was held in the Fujian Provincial Government, which Fujian Governor Zhao Long, Nagasaki Governor Kengo Oishi and Speaker Hiroyoshi Nakashima attended via video link. Chinese Ambassador to Japan Kong Xuanyou and Japanese Ambassador to China Hideo Tarumi delivered a video address. In addition, FPNU President Liao Shenji signed Memorandum of Cooperation with Yukio Ando, President of Nagasaki International University.
Governor Zhao Long congratulated the two sides on the 40th anniversary of their friendship. He mentioned that President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to developing the relations between China and Japan. This morning, President Xi and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida exchanged congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan relations, making joint efforts to establish Sino-Japanese relations in the new era. Fujian and Nagasaki have frequent communication, and in particular, the exchange of Obaku culture has become an important bond of the deep friendship between the two places. It is sincerely hoped that the two sides will deepen their cooperation in the areas like the digital economy and jointly facilitate the development of the two places. The friends from Nagasaki are all welcome to visit Fujian to deepen cooperation and exchange between the two sides and contribute to the China-Japan friendship.
Governor Kengo Oishi thanked Fujian for its tremendous efforts to enhance exchange and cooperation with Nagasaki. He pointed out that this meeting made him strongly sense the deep friendship between Fujian and Nagasaki. The 40-year friendship between the two has been a valuable treasure for people of Nagasaki. He expected to carry forward their friendship and continue their cooperation in more areas.
FPNU was the only university present at the signing ceremony, so President Liao signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with Nagasaki International University President Yukio Ando. After the celebration activities, Vice-Governor Guo Ningning met with President Liao. She recognized the achievements FPNU had made in international communication and cooperation during the most recent two years. She expected FPNU to continue playing an active role in this respect. In the meantime, Fujian Provincial Government will continue to fully support the development of FPNU.
