In the 5th China Cheerleading Festival, FPNU won the National Cheerleading Special Contribution Award. Chen Zhangyu, retired professor from School of Physical Education, won the title of “National Cheerleading Special Contribution Individual”, and Zheng Dongping, associate professor from School of Physical Education, won the title of “National Top Ten Competition Executive”.

The 5th China Cheerleading Festival was held by Gymnastics Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and Chinese Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics Association. Nearly 2400 cheerleading representatives from over 200 cities all around the country participated in the activity. It was reported that 5 schools in Fujian Province won “National Cheerleading Special Contribution Award”, 2 persons won the title of “National Cheerleading Special Contribution Individual” and one person won the title of “National Top Ten Competition Executive”.

Since 2004, School of Physical Education has carried out the teaching reform of the cheerleading course, including using competitions as the substitute for examinations, and won the second prize of provincial excellent courses and provincial excellent teaching achievements. Teachers and students also have made great achievements in national and provincial cheerleading competitions. In the past 20 years, cheerleading education reform teams have remained true to their aspirations, actively promoting the popularization and improvement of cheerleading, organizing the National Cheerleading Children’s Elite Competition and that of primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Fuqing, assisting the General Administration of Sport of China to cultivate cheerleading teachers, playing a leading role in the development of cheerleading in primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Fujian Province. And it also helped Fuqing City win the title of "National Cheerleading Demonstration Zone".

These awards not only recognized our school’s achievements in conducting and promoting cheerleading over the years, but also strengthened our school’s confidence and injected impetus to the development of cheerleading and physical education.
