On June 13, the Fujian Vocational Education Research Institute was officially unveiled in the academic lecture hall of Baochen Library of FPNU. Jointly built by FPNU and the Fujian Vocational and Technical Education Society and operated under FPNU’s auspices, the institute hosted an unveiling ceremony attended by representatives from the Vocational Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education, Fujian Provincial Department of Education, Higher Education Press, Beijing Education International Exchange Association, Fujian Vocational and Technical Education Society, vocational education think tanks from inside and outside the province, and nearly 100 vocational colleges across Fujian.
Congratulatory letters and telegrams were sent by sister institutions including vocational and technical normal universities from Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi and Hebei, provincial vocational education research institutes of Zhejiang and Liaoning, the SCO Vocational Education Research Institute, and Fujian Higher Education Research Institute.
On behalf of FPNU, Tu Rong, the Party Secretary, extended sincere gratitude to the Fujian Provincial Department of Education for its guidance as well as peer institutions, think tank partners and all practitioners in vocational education for their enthusiastic support. He stated that the establishment and operation of the institute based at FPNU fully recognizes the university’s achievements in refining its educational features and serving vocational education, and marks a solemn new starting point for the university to fulfill its mission of researching, serving and guiding vocational education.
He pointed out that adhering to an open operational philosophy and under the leadership and guidance of the Fujian Provincial Department of Education, the institute will pool wisdom from all sectors, deepen research in vocational education, and strive to build a high-level professional provincial educational think tank integrating policy analysis, academic research, talent cultivation, public services and international exchanges.
Wu Chen, Deputy Director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Education, extended congratulations on the institute’s inauguration on behalf of the Education Working Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and the provincial education authority. She noted that the official launch of the institute completes the province’s three major provincial research platforms covering higher education, basic education and vocational education, forming an integrated three-in-one educational research framework and elevating Fujian’s educational research system to a new stage.
She emphasized that the establishment of a provincial vocational education research institute is a key initiative to develop a new vocational education system in Fujian and support the construction of the Cross-Strait Integrated Development Demonstration Zone. It also serves as a practical measure to address the practical needs of Fujian’s vocational education development and advance provincial pilot reforms.
She urged the institute to focus on the overall reform and development of vocational education across Fujian, accelerate the integration of provincial vocational research resources, and act as a think tank for policy-making, a hub for collaborative research and a catalyst for quality improvement. Through high-standard research, the institute shall underpin the high-quality development of vocational education in Fujian Province.
