On the morning of October 18th, FPNU signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with Perkumpulan Fujian Indonesia and Guoji Ribao Indonesia Press Group via video, jointly promoting cultural exchange and cooperation, and talent cultivating between China and Indonesia. Ted Sieong, chairman of Guoji Ribao Indonesia Press Group, donated RMB 1 million to set up “Xiong Delong Scholarship” in FPNU.

Vice-president of FPNU Chen Zhiyong presided over the ceremony.
Secretary Lai Hairong delivered an enthusiastic address, wishing the fruitful achievements in the cooperation with Perkumpulan Fujian Indonesia and Guoji Ribao Indonesia Press Group, and extended heartfelt gratitude and high respect to Chairman Ted Sieong for his generous donation of benevolence and kindness.
He said that the signing of the MOC with Perkumpulan Fujian Indonesia and Guoji Ribao Indonesia Press Group is a vivid practice of implementing the consensus reached in the meetings between President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo. It is of great significance for deepening educational exchanges between China and Indonesia, enhancing ethnic Chinese teenagers’ understanding of their ancestral home, and cultivating the talents urgently needed for the construction of the “the Belt and Road” and the implementation of the China-Indonesia “Two countries, Twin parks” project.
He pointed out that, as the the highest seat of learning in Fuqing, FPNU is the pride of compatriots at home and abroad , and in the process of development, it gets wholehearted support from many overseas Chinese who love their hometown. FPNU will continually make new achievements to treasure up their contributions.
He emphasized that the development of school requires more attention and stronger support from Fuqing compatriots at home and abroad. He sincerely hopes that the overseas Chinese will pay attention to the development of school, help promote and publicize the school, provide a platform for the school development, introduce resources, and jointly promote the prosperity of higher education in our hometown, so as to better serve for the economic and social development in Fuqing and the vast number of Fuqing compatriots at home and abroad.
At the signing ceremony, President Liao Shenji, signed a MOC with General Chairman Yu Yuling and Chairman Xiong Delong respectively. The cooperation involves jointly strengthening cultural and people-to-people exchanges, carrying out vocational skills training, providing technical talents for the project of “Two Countries, Twin Parks” and exploring the establishment of a modern media industry college.
Entrusted by Chairman Ted Sieong, Vice President Zheng Huiwen awarded the donation board of “Xiong Delong Scholarship” to President Liao Shenji. This scholarship will be used to support the cultivating of Indonesian-speaking business talents.
The representatives of the Indonesian guests at the meeting delivered speeches respectively to congratulate the signing of MOC and the setting of “Xiong Delong Scholarship”, hoping that with the concerted efforts of all parties, the various cooperation intentions would be realized as soon as possible, and transferred into positive achievements, which would make the China-Indonesia cooperation more vibrant.
On behalf of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province and Overseas Friendship Association, Vice President Zheng Huiwen extended warm congratulation to this event. He praised highly of the excellent tradition of the Chinese-Indonesian “loving and repaying to their hometown”. He pointed out that people-to-people bond is a significant part of the Belt and Road Initiative, and overseas Chinese have a unique advantage in promoting the people-to-people bond. Today's event is an innovative measure to promote the people-to-people bond in the new era, which has important practical significance. He hoped that all parties would make joint efforts to promote friendly exchange between Fujian and Indonesia in an all-round way and make this exchange play a greater role in promoting the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
