On the morning of October 18th, Dr. Yu Wenjuan, an outstanding overseas Fuqing descendant, a PhD graduated from New York University, was appointed as guest researcher of Fujian Polytechnic Normal University (FPNU) via video link.

    At the ceremony, Lai Hairong, Secretary of the Party Committee of FPNU, extended his sincere congratulations to Dr. Yu Wenjuan on her appointment as our guest researcher. He said that the appointment would promote international communication and broaden the international perspective of students and teachers, drive academic exchanges and cross-cultural research cooperation between China and Indonesia, and boost the exchange and mutual learning between Chinese culture and Indonesian culture. He hoped that Dr. Yu would give full play to her academic strengths and interact with students and teachers actively, being a cultural ambassador between Indonesia and China in the new era.

    President Liao Shenji read out the letter of appointment.

    Dr. Lai Minyu, Indonesian language specialist of FPNU, awarded the letter of appointment to Dr. Yu Wenjuan in Jakarta on behalf of President Liao Shenji.

    Dr. Yu expressed sincere gratitude for the invitation from FPNU in her speech. She hopes to share her research and ideas on Chinese Indonesians with everyone at the university, and promote exchanges in academia and other fields.

    After that, Dr. Yu gave an academic report entitled “Chinese Organizations in Indonesia-- A Historical Overview” to student representatives from the School of Culture, Media and Law and the School of Foreign Languages, and interacted with the students.

This appointment is of great significance in enhancing the interconnection between Chinese and Indonesian students and teachers, promoting communication and cooperation between the academic communities of the two countries, and advancing cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Indonesia.

    Dr. Yu Wenjuan, majored in Media and Communication, graduated from Loyola Marymount University, Cornell University and New York University with a Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral degree respectively. She is teaching at the Department of Media and Literature, University of Indonesia, and is also an editor of Komunika Media Magazine, the co-founder and CEO of The Enrichment Lab, and an alumni admissions ambassador for Cornell University.
