In order to promote career planning among college students and improve their professional qualities and employability skills, the 14th Fujian Provincial College Students’ Career Planning Competition was successfully held at Fujian Polytechnic Normal University (FPNU) on November 19th. Two students from FPNU won the first prize in the undergraduate group and two teachers from FPNU won the title of “Excellent Instructor”. FPNU won the “Best Organization Award”.
This competition was hosted by the Education Department of Fujian Province, organized by FPNU, and co-organized by Fujian College Graduates Employment and Entrepreneurship Promotion Association. Deputy Director of the Education Department of Fujian Province Li Xun, President of FPNU Liao Shenji, Deputy Secretary of FPNU Party Committee Lin Haifeng, Level-2 Consultant of Student Affairs Office of the Education Department of Fujian Province You Jinmao, Vice President and Secretary-General of Fujian College Graduates Employment and Entrepreneurship Promotion Association Tang Ruihua and expert judges attended the ceremony and awarded the winners.
The competition was divided into two groups, including the undergraduate group and the higher vocational college students group, with 145 students from 78 colleges and universities participating in this competition since September 2021. After online evaluation by experts, 65 students stood out and entered the final. A total of 13 first prizes, 19 second prizes, 20 third prizes, 13 honorable mentions were received. 13 teachers were awarded “Excellent Instructor” and 13 colleges and universities won “Best Organization Award”.
At the one-day final, contestants stated their career planning combined with the industry prospects, their majors and conditions, and answered the questions put forward by the judges. They fully demonstrated their career objectives, career path and future plans. After the fierce competition, 7 students respectively from Fuzhou University (FZU), Fujian Medical University (FMU), Xiamen University (XMU), Fujian Normal University (FNU), Fujian University of Technology (FJUT) and Fujian Polytechnic Normal University (FPNU) won the first prizes in the undergraduate group. 6 students respectively from Minjiang Teachers College, Fujian Vocational College of Agriculture, Fujian Forestry Vocational & Technical College, Xiamen Ocean Vocational college (XMOC), and Fujian Polytechnic of Information Technology won the first prizes in the higher vocational college students group.
At the award ceremony, representatives of the judges, Associate Professor of Fuzhou University (FZU) Ruan Juan and Secretary General of Fujian Province Internet Entrepreneurship Promotion Association Lin Qingxiang made wonderful comments. They fully affirmed contestants’ outstanding performance and put forward some advice related to career planning.
President Liao Shenji delivered a speech on behalf of FPNU. He briefly introduced the basic information and schooling characteristics of FPNU, and stressed that FPNU is committed to training teachers for vocational education in Fujian. He pointed out that the 14th Fujian Provincial College Students’ Career Planning Competition was the first provincial competition organized by FPNU since its inauguration. Everyone cherished this opportunity and worked together to make positive contributions to ensure the quality, characteristics and level of this competition. We strive to build a platform for everyone to show their talents and exchange experience.
He said, planning leads to growth, and the future starts from dreams. He hopes that our students will start planning career and work hard to achieve goals. Students should actively participate in economic and social development, make efforts to achieve the two centenary goals and the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the our nation.
Deputy Director of the Education Department of Fujian Province Li Xun made a summary and delivered a guidance speech for the competition. On behalf of the Education Department of Fujian Province, he extended warm congratulations to the contestants and universities, and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the teachers and students of FPNU who helped organize the competition, as well as the expert judges and news media who participated in it.
At the awards ceremony, FPNU’s Art Club and Street Dance Club joined hands with the Affiliated Primary School of FPNU to present wonderful art performances to everyone, which brought a successful conclusion to the competition.
